From the host processor's perspective, the IDG 9480 tape emulation modules are indistinguishable from real tape drives. Each emulated tape drive is associated with unique security group information and compared against security contained within the Secure Tape Catalog for each tape, controlling which tapes the drive will load. This security group comparison is performed upon receiving a tape mount request from the Host Information Component. As the host processor creates or uses a tape image, relevant information is updated in the Secure Tape Catalog. |
