High-Volume Application

For environments that generate a large number of tapes, the Secure Data Solution^® can write the compressed and encrypted data directly to a fibre channel-attached 3590-model tape drive, without additional handling by the host.

 The resulting tapes can then be transported to an off-site storage location. This configuration requires channel-attached devices that handle the compression and encryption, as well as control the writing of the tape images to the tape drives.

High-Volume, Off-Site Application

Another possible configuration allows you to transmit the compressed and encrypted data over a network to an off-site storage location, where it is written to tape (or DVDs).

Both the cost and time associated with transporting tapes are avoided completely —backup data is available almost immediately and at no additional cost.
